Life and work of Jan Vermeer van Delft Little is known about the life of Jan Vermeer van Delft. He was married and had 11 children. Due to the perfection that he had set himself as his goal in painting, he always remained focused on an infinitely meticulous execution. This is why he was never able to paint more than 3, at most 4 pictures a year. His confirmed work comprises almost 40 pictures. The first large-figure group depictions ("At the Procuress" 1656) were followed by moral depictions of quiet interior scenes, usually limited to individual figures or a few people (...)
